Advantages of Implant-Supported Dentures
Our professionals combine their skills in implantology and denturology to build implant-supported dentures of flawless quality. This full fixed denture that replaces all upper or lower teeth can be placed on four dental implants, making it remarkably sturdy. In some cases, more implants may be necessary.
The increased stability that implants offer restores the patient’s full mastication capacity. Furthermore, because the denture is fixed, it is very comfortable to wear and remains firmly in place. The presence of implants also makes it possible to stimulate the jawbone, which may otherwise cause the loss of bone, mass through the years.
Implant-Supported Dentures Procedure
Just as it is the case for all treatments that require the installation of dental implants, it takes months to design and install implant-supported dentures. Here are the main steps:
- Consulting with a professional: your dentist must first carry out a full exam of your teeth and gums. This will allow him to determine if your gums and bones of your jaws are strong enough to have one or many implants installed. In some cases, a gum graft or bone graft may be necessary;
- Implant installation: Before installing the dentures, the implantation site must have fully healed. During the healing process, the implants naturally integrate into bones in the jaws. This step takes a few months;
- Designing of the denture: Thanks to previously taken measurements, the final denture is built.
Fitting of the denture: The final denture is fitted. Adjustments may be necessary.
