Pacifiers

  • It is natural for a baby to suck a pacifier or dummy because it's the way infants relax and feed. Around the age of 2 or 3 years old, the child experiences a weaker urge to suck. To prevent him or her from using his/her thumb, it is recommended that you provide a pacifier because you can control when and how the child will use it.
  • To prevent cavities, you should not put sugar, honey or corn syrup on a pacifier. It is better for the child to stop sucking before the he or she reaches six years of age, before the onset of his/her permanent teeth. If he/she continues, the child may have problems in terms of his jaw development and the alignment of the teeth.
